To my baby Gus

Hi little precious!

You are getting so big, little boy! I can't believe you are just about 3 months old now! You are growing up too fast baby. And it really breaks my heart that I can't be there to watch as you grow up. I know the next time I see you, you are going to look so different then the last time I saw you. But don't be nervous little one, I am always going to love you, even when you are a big boy all grown up. You are very special to me little Gabriel. I have always loved you. Did you know me and your mommy used to dream about you when we were little? I can't believe you are finally here and I am not there too much to spend time with you.

But I promise, I will just be a phone call or a web cam away if you want to talk. I know it's a little hard right now since you are just getting used to being out of mommy's tummy and in the real world so I will wait patiently 'til you can say a few words over the phone. And maybe one day me and your tio will be back in San Diego to live and play with you all the time. We don't really know yet baby but we are just trusting in God to put us where He wants us to be. I am sure your mommy and daddy are teaching you about what it means to trust in God for His timing and His will. I mean He didn't send you to them until the time was right and I am sure they both agree you were worth the wait. And one day when God thinks its the right time, He will send you a little baby cousin to play with :) Yes, little Gus, I know sometimes its hard to understand why we can't be together or why things work out the way they do but just know that God is in control and He has the best plans and reasons for why He does the things He does. You are proof of that my little baby.

I love you so much and I can't wait to see you again little love.

P.S. Dont tell mommy and daddy you are sneaking on the computer while they are sleeping to read about your tio, tia, and chocolate puppy cousin. they will freak out and be mad at me for not letting you sleep ;o)

Memorial Day

This Memorial Day we went down to Corpus Christi with our friends. Its about a six hour drive down there but it was definitely worth it. It kinda reminded me a little bit of San Diego because of the bay and the bridges but San Diego is still a lot prettier. The beach was nice, the water isnt as blue but it was a lot warmer. It was also weird to be at the beach when it was raining and thundering but since everyone around us seemed to be ok with it, we figured it was a common thing down there and we would be safe.

Baloo loved the water too. He was jumping when the waves came at first but 20 minutes later he refused to go back in. He would go in when Jeremy pretended he was drowning but as soon as he saw that Jeremy was safe he would run back to the shore. A little while later when he threw up, we realized why he didnt want to be in the water anymore. He has been sick since. He is doing a lot better though. I think the salt water is almost all out of his system. You never see the dogs throwing up in the movies when they are at the beach but I guess it makes sense. We should have known.

Corpus is huge on fishing so Jeremy tried that out over on the pier and I think he caught a couple of fish but they were too small. I had to stay behind with Baloo since they dont allow dogs on the pier. Poor Baloo. We love him so much but we are thinking about maybe leaving him behind next time so we can do more . Trouble is, he is too little to stay home alone (he still needs to go out a lot to the bathroom) and we don't know want to leave him with strangers at a doggie daycare. I think we are going to be crazy when we have kids. We love Baloo like our baby and he isn't even human. I can't imagine how we will be when we have the real thing.

Well even though our Memorial Day was super fun and we had some days to relax, we did take the time to pay our respects to those who gave their lives in our country's fight for freedom. Although I had thought about it in the past a little bit, it was definitely a different experience this year. I have met so many of guys that work with Jeremy that are soldiers and you begin to realize that the guys and girls names you hear on the news are actual people with families, friends, dreams....these guys may sometimes be rough around the edges but they have become my friends. they have big hearts and most of the ones I have met serve their country with pride and a great sense of duty. I know lots of you may never be directly affected but it is my hope that all of us can take the time to pray for all those who serve, have served and their loved ones. They need it.

Baloo refusing to go in the water. I guess his tummy was hurting pretty bad at this point. Despues de media hora en la playa, Baloo reuso meterse en la agua. Se nos olvido decirle que la agua salada no es buena para tomar ja ja ja :)

This is when Baloo still hadn't begun to drink the water.
Todavia no habia tomado la agua.

Selena's monument. The stairs from the movie were right there too.

I think this city girl has a heart for the country

This past weekend Jeremy's friends invited us all down to the lake. Although I was a bit nervous at first, I had a blast. I learned how to fish and I even tried cleaning the fish. (Real Gross)
Jeremy did a great job fishing. I'm not sure who caught the most but I am pretty sure he did since he caught the first bunch. Im not too big of a fan of fish but I think after this trip I might just give them another try.

We also got a chance to go swimming at the lake. Well I didn't go in since I cant swim but Jeremy and Baloo jumped in. Everyone had fun watching Baloo swim for the first time. He was awesome. At first he was only jumping in the water to fetch the stick but eventually he was just jumping in just 'cuz he liked it :o)

I loved the trip and I could see that becoming something we would like to work towards for in the future. Only thing I didnt like was the horrible mosquito bites all over my legs and arms. Next time I'll be sure to pack the OFF bug repellent ;o)

Baloo and his little Basset Hound girlfriend Kailey.

I always thought fish were all squishy and smooth. Apparently their fins are sharp and their skin feels real gross. Cleaning it was even worse, that skin is real thick. I didn't touch any live ones though. Baby steps.

Between all of us we got 81 fish.

Jeremy was the first to catch a fishy. I named this one Adam. Poor Adam.

This was the 2nd fish I caught. Well I only caught two.
I hooked 4 but I only managed to bring 2 in.

A tired pup on the way home.
(See the mosquito bite on my leg in the back, I have like 7 of those)

**we love and miss you**
