Waiting for baby

Just one of the few gifts I have received for our little baby that I can't wait to use! Thanks Jamie!                                                                                 (That's Baloo, by the way. Such a curious pup!)

How come it takes so long to grow a baby? I want to meet my little one already! Aghhhh!!! I don't think I have ever been so impatient for something to happen.
And let me tell you I have driven myself crazy waiting and counting down for so many things....such as
-waiting for a sermon to end when I was a little kid ( sadly I didn't yet value the importance then)
-finally being done with the nightmare that was high school
-finally being with the nightmare that was college
-waiting to meet my soulmate (Jeremy was my first and only boyfriend and I was 21!)
-counting down for each weekend during my crazy-hectic credential program
-waiting 15 months for my husband to return from Iraq
-waiting for my husband to return from Afghanistan
-waiting to get pregnant

Goodness gracious, I am such an impatient person! I don't like waiting for anything and truth be told I guess most all of us are like that. And I guess in my own struggle, I am impatient for things because I lack in faith to believe that they are ever going to happen. But as I am looking down my list, I am seeing that all these things came to just at the right moment. And through each process, I grew to believe, to be strong, and learn many things. I guess really God was helping me grow up and be ready for what was to come. I thank God for His timing and for His love during all these things.

I know God is working on me during this pregnancy as well. Specifically in trusting in Him and leaving things in His hands. And I guess, nine months is the time He needs to help grow in this area and others so that I will be ready for when baby is born.

Goodness, waiting is never easy! But thank God He is working in me everyday. And that during these nine months, He is working on that baby too! Making that little baby strong, beautiful, and healthy! :)

This reminds me of a song my sister and I sang in church play once...a song I need to remember during my impatient moments.....

In His time, in His time
He makes all things beautiful, in His time
Lord, please show me everyday
As You're teaching me Your way
That You do just what You say, in Your time.

The Sock Thief

I know where all the socks go when they get lost in laundry. Well, at least I know where all our socks go.....you know that little white pup named Mashy? Well, she has actually grown up to become quite the sock thief (among other things).
I kid you not, anytime one of us takes off our socks, within minutes, one or two of them have disappeared. The nice thing is we know exactly where to look. Mashy. For some reason or another, she just loves our socks. And it is not because of the dirtiness of the sock either, in fact, she loves both clean socks and dirty ones equally. She doesn't tear them up or chew on them either. Most of the time we find her with our socks she is either tossing it up in the air and pouncing on it, running around with it in her mouth, or cuddling up with it as if it were her teddy bear. I really don't get it.
Just this morning as I was reading Bible I looked up and saw Mashy running down with Daddy's green army sock in her mouth. By the time I was done reading and looked up both of the socks had been brought downstairs. Such a weird puppy.
Anyways, I know most of you might not care about puppies and socks, but this is just one of those things I want to remember later on about my Mash and her cute  little habits. In my mind, she just wants to smell us and be close to us all the time :)

Laziness...It's just a pregnancy thing

Now I will admit I have never been the most proactive person in this world (or even my house) but it seems that lately I have just been an absolute couch potato.

Case in point:
My house is currently a sloppy mess
I have unopened mail from at least 3 weeks
I have not updated our budget and have caused a tight money squeeze the last 2 months
There is no access to one area of my garage due to items we have yet to unpack from our trip....our Christmas trip)
I have yet to catch up on the laundry
We have not had a complete homemade meal in who knows when
My dogs have been on maybe a total of 5 walks in 2011
I have exercised a total of  0 times this year
I made minimum effort to celebrate Valentine's Day this year, a holiday I normally love
and these are the things were not that embarrassing to tell you about :(

I am a mess!

But truly and honestly it seems that since about Thanksgiving, I have lost all motivation and energy to get anything accomplished around here. It is a wonder how we have survived so long. I am so grateful a messy house doesn't phase Jeremy or the dogs. And for once, I am thankful that family doesn't live nearby to casually stop by and see my disaster.

Of course I am going to blame this on the pregnancy. If I wasn't exhausted, I was nauseous. If  I wasn't nauseous, I was exhausted. And if I happened to be feeling ok, I was at work. Thank God, there were a few times when I did feel pretty well and was able to get things done or else our living conditions would be unlivable.

I am finally in my second trimester and so thankful that a lot of my symptoms have calmed down considerably, but the motivation still has yet to return. I used to cry on days when I went to bed without everything being in its place and now I see the mess and just decide to leave more things out since it just goes with the current decor. :(

I have a four-day weekend this week and am looking very forward to feeling good and getting this house in shape. So if you don't hear from me in a few days-don't panic, I am just cleaning. (Oh wait, I have been too lazy to write on here too, so that won't be anything new :)

All joking aside, although I hate a dirty house and unorganized chaos that stems from me feeling unwell, I couldn't be happier....these are all signs that my baby is growing and living in me...What a miracle!

The truth about January

Well it's finally February which means it is time for me to check in with you on how I did with my goals from January.....I can sum things up in one word: FAIL

Goal #1-Read my Bible daily & set aside a special time in prayer .

I never did end up enrolling in that study at church. :( However, as for reading the Bible daily, I am trying really hard to work on this. I am part of an accountability group that shares the Word with each other daily. It has really has been a blessing and I have learned so much. I am not so good on the weekends and need a little more discipline to spend time in the Word and in prayer on these days.

Goal #2- Do a weekly post on the blog.

Does it count that I have been writing in my pregnancy journal blog? Honestly, going back to work after a two week vacation really threw me for a loop. Not to mention the fact that due to the pregnancy all I wanted to do was sleep when I got home. So many things I wish I had written. I really wish I would have done better.

Goal # 3-Use cash for all our spending.

Let's not sugarcoat this one. I never even made it to the bank. :(

Ok, well can we all agree I got three goals that need working on? Let's try again and see how I do this month!
